Project Plan

VR Enhanced Learning

The College of Medicine is set to take medical education to the next level by using the most advanced education technology tools to enhance learning for our professional students. We are using futuristic concepts of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality to build and design an immersive, interactive learning experience for students that will be incorporated into our medical curriculum. This will place the college amongst the top tier of world renowned medical training centers by producing professionals that are equipped to adapt to the expectations of the modern world in terms of clinical proficiency.

World-Class Experience

Easily accessible and explorable

A world-class Immersive learning center will enable our students explore and experience what the virtual reality world offers in terms of in-dept understanding of hard to grasp medical, physiological and pathological concept .The college will design and build its curriculum, organize courses and lessons, and easily distribute to our students to access using VR, desktop, and mobile device technology..

Trusted Partners

Quality VR content providers

As part of this VR project, through partnership learning agreement, the Cleveland Clinic Medical School and Mayo Clinic Medical School intend to build customized tutorials and trainings resources for virtual simulation learning as well as using analytics to gain key insights to improve our curriculum and learning outcomes. This will unlock the powerful potential of virtual reality, enabling learners to experience an unprecedented level of immersion in medical environment even from remote locations. This capability of remote learning through VR will enable our students and other foreign students engage in immersive reality collaborative learning in a virtual interactive environment remotely from Nigeria. Allows students from both parts of the world to engage in real time virtual cadaver dissections, students tutorials and other knowledge sharing activities.

Our Mission

Message from the Provost

Hello Everyone. I am Professor Uchenna Nwagha, the Provost of College of Medicine, University of Nigeria. As you may know, our College of Medicine remains one of the foremost in the country producing graduates who have excelled in their chosen fields of specialization both locally and internationally. This is as a result of the dedication of our staff and the diligence of our students towards excellence.

Our deep desire is to continue to strive to improve the medical knowledge and training we impact on our students in other to keep them prepared for the rapidly changing world in medical education, research and practice, thus keeping them competitive on the world stage......

Project Goals

What our projected virtual reality lab project will accomplish

Tethered Learning Experiences

Allows our students and teachers to connect in virtual reality with educators and other students in other parts of the world regardless of their current physical location on the globe.

Immersive and collaborative Learning

The aim of college of Medicine virtuallearning lab is to improve the experience of education and training for our medical students through mixed reality technology. The immersive learning experiences will dramatically increase our students retention capability and performance outcome. Virtual reality will be used for virtual cadaver dissection, anatomical and physiological concept animations and as well as surgical procedures in a mixed and virtual reality setting.

Holistic Solutions for Medical Learning

As part of the college of medicine virtual simulation learning, we plan to incorporate learning of native concepts with maximum impact. The aim is to combine the most impactful aspects of contemporary technologies to build powerful tools for maximum learning outcome for our student’s clinical training through exploiting tools that actually work in the real world and deliver meaningful outcomes for our clinical students and the patients they are trained to care for. We dive deep into the challenges doctors face every day to uncover the optimal solutions for specific use cases, seamlessly blending mobile devices, machine learning, and mixed reality into optimal solutions for highly specialized needs.
